Volumetric calculations of mass excavation and fill call for an organised approach to the surveying and production of a digital terrain model. It is more involved than just taking levels at fixed intervals, breaklines must be defined, overall boundaries marked out and edges surveyed. The formation of the model must take all these factors into account in order to accurately determine the volumes concerned, otherwise costly mistakes can be made.

Using Total Stations and GPS receivers, we are able to model a terrain of any size anywhere in the world to a high degree of accuracy. Our modelling software enables us to produce plans, perspective views, volumes, longitudinal and cross sections.
